Martha Walker's Survivors were Exhibited at UBS Gallery, Manhattan As part of UBS Gallery Presents NAWA Collections at Rutgers: Acquisitions 2003 - 2007, Martha Walker's sculptures The Survivors, moved directly from her solo show in Pennsylvania to the UBS Gallery at 1285 Avenue of the Americas in Manhattan. Although these pieces are not part of the Zimmerli collection, the curator, Jeffrey Wechsler requested these works for the show, which ran from May 14th, 2009 - Friday, July 31st, 2009. Kouros Exhibition Officially Set Besides her two installations at Kouros Sculpture Park in Ridgefield, Connecticut, located at 23 East 73rd Street, New York, N.Y. 10021 has set the official date for Martha's show in the spring. This exhibition, as yet untitled, will run from March 4th, 2010 - April 3rd, 2010. The opening reception is scheduled for Thursday March 4th, 2010 from 6-8 pm. "I am currently working on a body of work to present at this exhibition, including several drawings. The location is excellent, and the gallery has a fantastic reputation" Walker states. Woodstock Ad Hoc Residency a big Success For the second year in a row, the "Ad Hoc Residency" proved to be an incredibly productive experience for Martha. She completed 2 new sculptures, and had the opportunity to spend one on one time with a number of emerging artists like Ella Yang, Nancy Lunsford, Pamela Smith and Julia Livi. "This year, I extended my stay in Woodstock to four full weeks, which is longer than any of my past residencies. It allowed me to stretch out creatively. Also, the time spent with other artists of different disciplines is really so invaluable." The End Justifies The Means Installed at Pratt Institute Curator, David Weinrib invited Martha to install her largest sculpture on the Pratt Institute Campus. The piece was installed in June 2010 with the help of a crew of 5 people over the course of an entire day. The Installation was the most challenging of any that Walker has done to date. The work is accompanied by a custom designed sign with the universal symbol for radiation and the title of the sculpture. ![]() The End..9'4" high x 10' Round |
